What is Prompt Monsters?

Prompt Monsters is an AI-driven blockchain game in which players enter a short description of features and a GPT model generates a unique monster that is minted as a full on-chain NFT. Monsters battle other players' minted NFTs, with the win or loss outcome generated by the AI rather than a central authority. It launched on MCH Verse on the Oasys Chain in May 2023 and was originally built at ETHGlobal Tokyo by XYLOCOPA Corporation. The interface is available in Japanese and English and connects through a Web3 wallet.

Key Features

AI monster generation

Type a few characteristics and a GPT model produces a unique monster with its own stats and skills.

Full on-chain NFTs

Generated monsters are minted as ERC721 NFTs stored fully on chain rather than via external image hosting.

AI battle resolution

Player versus player battles between minted monster NFTs are decided by AI-generated outcomes instead of a central server.

Resurrection Prompt

Each generated monster gets an ID that lets you bring back an unminted monster at any time by entering that ID.

Boss mode

A dedicated boss battle mode sits alongside standard player battles.

Party and skill selection

Players can build parties, select monster skills and give prompt instructions to shape battles.

Web3 wallet login

Connect a wallet and switch to the MCH Verse Mainnet network to mint and play.

Pros & Cons

Advantages

  • The site is live and the game is fully playable with a clear four-step flow of input features, generate, mint and battle.
  • Monsters and battle results are generated by AI, giving each creation a distinct and unpredictable character.
  • NFTs are stored fully on chain, so players genuinely own their monsters rather than relying on off-chain image links.
  • The interface supports both Japanese and English, widening access beyond a single market.
  • It is backed by named partners including XYLOCOPA, AiHUB and MCH, with grant funding behind the launch.

Limitations

  • Playing requires a Web3 wallet and crypto tokens, with minting costing 50 MCHC per monster, so there is no free casual entry.
  • The game is tied to MCH Verse on the Oasys Chain, meaning players must add and switch to a specific network.
  • There is no public SaaS-style pricing page; costs and rewards are token-based and tied to event campaigns.
  • As a blockchain game, token prices and reward pools can vary, making the real cost of play uncertain over time.
