What is Whistle: AI Workout Planner?

Whistle is an iOS app from Vogelhaus Apps GmbH that acts as a conversational AI training planner for running, cycling, swimming, strength work and other activities. You can ask it to build a training week, create a longer programme, adjust a workout or review your progress, and it draws on your goals, schedule, recent workouts, recovery, sleep, vitals and local weather to suggest training decisions. It integrates with Apple Health and Apple Watch, and keeps data on the device or in personal iCloud by default. The app is free to download with optional Pro and Ultra subscriptions.

Key Features

Pros & Cons

Advantages

  • Covers multiple sports including running, cycling, swimming and strength work rather than a single discipline.
  • Plans adapt to real context such as recovery, sleep, vitals and local weather rather than using fixed templates.
  • Works without an account and stores data on device and in personal iCloud, which is good for privacy.
  • Native Apple Watch and Apple Health integration fits an existing Apple fitness setup.
  • Free to download, so you can try the core experience before subscribing.

Limitations

  • Apple-only: there is no Android or web version, so it is unusable outside the Apple ecosystem.
  • Requires iOS 18 or later and watchOS 11, which rules out older devices.
  • The app is currently available in English only.
  • Advanced coaching depends on a paid Pro or Ultra subscription, and the app is new with very few public ratings.

Use Cases

Triathletes who want a single coach to balance swim, bike and run training across the week.

Runners and cyclists who want workouts adjusted automatically based on recovery and sleep.

Apple Watch users who want AI summaries and structured sessions synced to their wrist.

Athletes who train outdoors and want sessions planned around the local weather forecast.

People who want a coaching plan that reacts when life disrupts their schedule, without manual replanning.

Privacy-conscious users who prefer fitness data to stay on device and in personal iCloud.
